Images presented to Truong Sa soldiers Eighty photos from Minh Loc’s personal collections, Sa Pa Doi Moi (Renewal Sa Pa) and Seu Dau Do (Red-headed Crane), are being delivered to the soldiers on Truong Sa (Spartly) Islands. The 72-year-old photographer, who previously was a reporter for the Vietnam News Agency, was born in the southern province of Dong Thap. The photos from the Sa Pa collection capture beautiful natural landscapes, along with the people who live there. The second collection features snap-shots of the Red-headed Crane. All of these works were on display HCM City’s Tourism Site last month. Hue house pushes French Nha Tri Thuc Hue (The Hue Knowledge House), which is funded by the Association of International Mayors of French-speaking Countries and the International Organisation of the Francophonie, has been launched and is operating at Le Hong Phong street, Hue. The three-storey building consists of a multimedia room equipped with over 30 computers and video players, and a documentation centre with more than 2,000 books, and other printed documents, CVDs and CDs.
Nha Tri Thuc Hue , which is also known as Nha Tri Thuc Phap Ngu (French Language Knowledge House) is one of four houses in the project. The other three houses are planned to be built in Moldova, Congo, and Burkina Faso in the future with the aim of widening the usage of the French language. Province hosts photo quest The 24th Artistic Photography Festival of the Mekong Delta finished up in the southern province of Vinh Long. The organising board received 1,804 entries from 274 amateur and professional photographers from 13 provinces in the region. The first prize for the black-and-white category was awarded to Phau Thuat Cong Nghe Cao (High-tech Surgery) by Lam Vien from Dong Thap province, while Doi Ban (Couple of Friends) by Hoang Nam from An Giang province won the first prize in the colour category. The awards ceremony and exhibition of select entries will be held on October 20 at Vinh Long’s Cultural Centre. The exhibition will run for 10 days. VietNamNet/Viet Nam News
